Growing up

My anxieties rained down like a stormy cloud
Worries of the future shouting out loud
What do I do as my age piles up?
The numbers are getting serious each year
The expectations and responsibilities 
It keeps growing, I fear.

Am i up and ready for my future
that’s knocking at my door?
Barging in without stopping
Not giving me the time to pause or prepare? 
I don’t think i’m ready to be an adult

I don’t think my soul is mature
I go through life, still clueless
Not ready for my future.
But even so the clock continues to tick,
The days continues to run
And there is no chance of halting time.

So i continue to wake up each morning
Doing my best to grow
Because although i am clueless,
Fearful even of the days,
Weeks,
Months ahead of me.
I am still learning to grow

In time 
I know i’ll be ready for the future

And you will be too.
